Prof. Dr. Hans-Christian von Herrmann

Hans-Christian von Herrmann is head of the literary studies group at the TU Berlin. In research and teaching, he is dedicated to the change in literary culture in the age of cybernetization and digitization. On the one hand, this means an occupation with literature and other arts from the middle of the 20th century to the present day, on the other hand, the development of historical and theoretical perspectives that shed light on the relationship between art, technology and science across epochs and cultures. His work focuses in particular on the dispute between the 'two cultures' since the 18th century and its criticism, the relationship between art and automation since the early 20th century, and the effects of planetarization associated with modern technology.
He is a member of the Berlin International Graduate School in Model and Simulation Based Research at the TU Berlin (BIMoS) and a member of the board of the Society of Friends of the TU Berlin.
